Boatright Enterprises Acquires Seaman Timber Company

Birmingham, AL – Boatright Enterprises, Inc., a Birmingham based company has acquired Seaman Timber Company, Inc. of Montevallo, AL, according to Boatright Enterprises’ owner, Shane Boatright.

“The acquisition of Seaman Timber Company strengthens our established position in treated tie and timber sales and service to the railroad industry,” Boatright said. “Owning a premium brand such as Seaman Timber Company allows Boatright Enterprises to grow revenues, enhance customer service and maintain superior product quality throughout its treated timber products offerings,” he added.

Boatright Enterprises, founded in 1989, owns and operates the St. Marys Railroad and is a service and supply conglomerate serving both Short Line and Class I railroads throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. Its diverse holdings include Vegetation & Brush Spraying Division, specializing in weed and brush control services; the Rail Gear Division, specializing in building new hi-rail trucks, up-fitting rail gear onto existing trucks, performing maintenance on all types of rail gear and direct sale of hi-rail parts; and Boatright Safety Solutions, offering an array of customized reflective safety vests, holsters and accessories made in the USA.

Additionally, three other companies are owned and operated by Boatright Enterprises: Service Industrial Rail Car, LLC, which maintains a large rail car fleet and performs rail car repair to comply with AAR and FRA rules and regulations at five shops throughout Michigan and Illinois; Service Rail Group, LLC, which owns and operates St. Marys Railroad serving Georgia-Pacific, Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base and BocksBoard with an interchange with CSXT; and the Creosote Treated Timber Division, offering quality treated ties and timbers with 24/7 service to react to any emergency situation.

According to Boatright, Seaman Timber Company’s former owner, Ms. Janet Seaman, will function as an Ambassador for the company as its representative at rail and forestry industry trade associations, including the Railway Tie Association, of which she is currently serving as president.
